WE DIDN’T START THE FIRE

Every now and then, Spotify chooses random songs to play based upon my past listening habits, coming up with selections I haven’t heard recently. Such was the case with Billy Joel’s 1989 #1 single “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, the lead track from his album “Storm Front”. With its machine-gun fast rhyming lyrics, it is a literal history lesson taking the listener chronologically through 118 significant events dating from 1949 to 1989.

That got me thinking about creating a post on Moteventure taking my readers through nearly 100 years of history, from the Great Depression of the early 1930’s to today’s Covid-19 pandemic. As Billy Joel realized in his song, tragedies and triumphs have always been the hallmark of living within our world. So, step back in time with me today to remember, relive and learn from our past to present.
