INSPIRED BY INSTAGRAM II

Last year at this time, I was in the midst of a “Netflix and Chill” session, while also scrolling my way through Instagram. Inspiration for post themes and special features come to me from many sources, and that night, they came to me from Instagram.

Surprising that an entire year has gone by and I’m just resurrecting this post idea for a second time. But then again, as they say, there’s no time like the present. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

THE WORKPLACE

Who would have thought a 17th century French dentist’s desire to make the dental profession more prominent as its own science would lead to separate insurance? At the time, you could go to a barber to have a tooth pulled.

THE NOSTALGIA

January 26, 1985 marked the Super Bowl debut of both the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots, with the Bears crushing the Patriots 46-10 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. To really hit the nostalgia factor, the group Up with People performed during the half-time ceremony. with half-time dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, who’s holiday had been observed for the first time the previous Monday.

THE STATE OF TODAY’S MUSIC

Being a lover of music in general, it’s hard to not compare today’s performers with those from decades past. I love collaborations, but do we really need EVERY SINGLE SONG to be “so-and-so featuring so-and-so”?

Today also marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Karen Carpenter. Now that’s a voice!

THE TV

Amazon Prime just announced that there will indeed be a second season of Chris Pratt’s action thriller series, while also ordering a prequel series featuring Taylor Kitsch’s TTL character Ben Edwards.

Season 2 of “The Terminal List” will be adapted from Jack Carr’s 2019 novel “True Believer.”

No word yet on when both series will premiere.

THE GYM

Oh, the controversy of leg day. Do it or skip it? With the influx of new enrollees for the new year, I opted to do more bodyweight routines throughout January, adding in leg machines as well. Let us know in the comments if you have a suggested workout to pass along to our Moteventurous followers here!

THE HUMOR

Anyone else feel like these past few years you should be seeing a W-2 form in the mail from Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot and all the other corporations that decided you need to work for them without pay?

THE POLITICS

Sometimes the best take on politics is to inject the seriousness of a situation with just a touch of levity.

THE INSPIRATION

Sometimes you come across a piece of advice that is both elusive and yet spot on in situations that you need to lock that down and never forget it.

THE DINNER TABLE

If you’re on Instagram, no doubt you’ve seen this post about bringing back a favorite restaurant from the past. For me, it would be a place called “W.C. Franks”. It served hot dogs and had a full video arcade (Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Galaga, Centipede, Frogger, Donkey Kong, the works). Great times and great memories.

Let us know in the comments what joint you wish would return?

THE FRIENDSHIP

I think you have to make the distinction between a social media friend and an actual friend that you see and hang out with or talk on the phone (yes it doesn more than text). Who’s that longtime friend you couldn’t do without?

Give them a shoutout in the comments and let them know how much they mean to you.

That’s it! Let us know what you think of our Instagram-inspired post today in the comment section or via the floating FEEDBACK button on the right.
