In the midst of the workday, even the best and most productive person needs to take a break to recharge and reinvigorate themselves for the remainder of the day. Being “so busy” that you can’t possibly stop working is a sure-fire sign that you need to do just that. Fatigue will set in and you’ll find yourself hopelessly spinning your wheels.
Have you ever been working on an issue or problem near the end of the day, and you just can’t make the solution materialize before you? As morning comes the next day, you re-examine the problem and see the solution in a few moments? That’s the perfect example of how taking a break is an imperative part of being a productive employee.
According to CIPHR, taking a break helps in 5 distinct ways:
- Breaks help you to process and retain information
- You’ll get a better sense of the bigger picture
- You’ll be more creative
- Breaks help you cultivate healthier habits
- Taking a break helps you be more productive
For full details on the advantages of taking breaks throughout your day, please be sure to visit CIPHR’s excellent article “Five Benefits of Taking Regular Breaks at Work”.
