The Making of Vertigo

If you’ve followed the countdown so far, you’ve seen the cover art, learned the story behind the title, and explored the complete track list.

Today, I wanted to pull back the curtain a bit and share how Vertigo came together.

Because the truth is, this album didn’t arrive all at once.

Like most creative projects, it evolved.

And evolved.

And evolved again.

The Album That Almost Was

What many people don’t know is that Vertigo existed long before the version you’ll hear on October 30.

Years ago, while I was still experimenting with music under the name JKON, I imagined an earlier version of an album carrying the same title.

A visual comparison showcasing the development of the album 'Vertigo' by JKON, displaying the original concept cover on the left and the final pop version cover on the right, with directional arrows indicating the transformation.

The songs were different. The first single was a song I called “On the Run”, a less than exceptional instrumental that is more of a simple jam session than a song now looking back 5 years later.

The vision was different.

Even the person and the method of creating it was different.

But the central idea somehow survived.

The feeling of navigating uncertainty.

The sensation of standing at a crossroads.

The search for meaning in moments that don’t always make immediate sense.

Looking back, the seeds of Vertigo were already there. They just needed time to grow into the album they were meant to become.

A Change in Direction

As the years passed, the music continued to evolve.

So did I.

What began as a music project eventually expanded into something broader. Moteventure became a place where music, writing, creativity, storytelling, exploration, and personal growth could all exist under one roof.

The music changed alongside that evolution.

Some songs became more personal.

Some became more reflective.

Others became more ambitious in their scope and production.

Rather than force the album into a specific mold, I allowed it to become what it wanted to become.

That decision changed everything.

Finding the Themes

One of the most surprising parts of making Vertigo was realizing what the album was actually about.

At first, I saw individual songs.

A love story.

A memory.

A risk worth taking.

A relationship falling apart.

Questions about identity.

Questions about truth.

Questions about belonging.

But once the songs were assembled together, I noticed something connecting all of them.

Perspective.

Every track explores a moment where something shifts.

Love changes a person.

Memory changes a person.

Loss changes a person.

Technology changes perspective.

Time changes perspective.

Experience changes perspective.

The title Vertigo suddenly made more sense than ever.

Four Songs Have Led Here

The first chapter of the journey has already begun through:

❄️ Avalanche
❤️ Obsession
✨ Euphoria
🌪️ Vertigo

Each one revealed a different side of the album yet were thematically linked by stories of love.

But they were only part of a larger story.

The remaining songs complete that picture, showing the uncertainty, self-discovery, risk, reflection, and hope that shape the rest of the album.

Why This Album Matters To Me

Every album becomes a timestamp.

A snapshot of who you were at a particular moment.

Looking at Vertigo now, I see lessons learned, risks taken, questions asked, victories celebrated, mistakes survived, and moments I’ll never forget.

I hear someone trying to make sense of change.

Trying to find balance.

Trying to understand where the journey was leading.

That’s why this album feels special to me.

Not because it’s perfect.

But because it’s honest.

Because it’s me.

One Step Closer

With every countdown post, we’re getting a little closer to release day.

Tomorrow I’ll begin spotlighting individual songs and sharing some of the stories and inspirations behind them.

For now, I’m simply grateful for everyone who’s followed along during the journey.

The countdown continues.
