Some social media trends come and go rather quickly (remember Dancing Baby, Planking, or Prince Harry’s Naked Army?), while others seem eternal in their attention-getting longevity. Nothing hits the universal appeal quotient quite like Throw Back Thursdays, otherwise known online as #TBT.
Originating (we believe) in 2006 as a way to share photographic life experiences pre-dating the internet, the hashtag took on greater significance and popularity when Sports Illustrated referenced a blog called Nice Kicks who posted throwback photos of old basketball footwear, titling the series “Throwback Thursdays”. The trend further exploded when Kim Kardashian and her family frequently posted using the hashtag.
With that spirit in mind, we wanted to “moteventurously” present our own version of Throwback Thursday. We take a look at a number of epic events throughout history that happen to occur…you guessed it…on a Thursday. #TBT
