“Money can buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail.”
Kinky Friedman
“In ancient times, cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.”
Terry Pratchett
Perhaps one of the hardest (or easiest) choices a person could make. Are you a dog person or a cat person?
Here are some fascinating facts about dogs and cats:
- Despite what you have been told, dogs don’t see only black and white. They can actually see blue, green, gray, and yellow as well.
- Most cats have no eyelashes.
- Dogs can sense the Earth’s magnetic field, helping them (and Lassie) find their way home.
- Cats can make over 100 unique sounds…dogs on the other hand only make about 10.
- 45% of US dogs sleep in their owner’s beds.
- Smuggling a cat out of ancient Egypt was a crime punishable by death.
- Only one breed of dog that was among the top five breeds in 1934 is in the top 5 breeds today – the Beagle.
- A cat can jump 5 times it’s own height in a single bound.
- Pembroke Welsh Corgis date back to the 10th century.
- In the original Italian version of Cinderella, the benevolent fairy godmother figure was a cat.
With those thoughts in mind, “This…or That?” this week will unscientifically determine the pulse of our followers’ preference when it comes to the classic either/or decision regarding our love for “man’s best friend” or “the true king of the castle”.
