With Christmas Eve (day twenty-four) upon us, I thought I’d highlight a newer song that really paints a great picture of Christmas spent with family and friends. “Christmas in the Country” is a 2019 single by country artist Thomas Rhett.

Thomas Rhett is actually Thomas Rhett Akins, son of country singer Rhett Akins. He left college at age 20 to pursue his dream of a music career.
Initially working as a songwriter with Jason Aldean, the strength of his songwriting made it possible to sign a recording contract with Big Machine Records in 2011. At one point in 2013, 5 of the top ten singles on the Country Airplay chart where written by either Thomas or his father.
Rhett’s hit singles include “Beer with Jesus”, “It Goes Like This”, “Crash and Burn”, “Die a Happy Man”, “T-Shirt”, “Craving You” (with Maren Morris), “Marry Me”, “Sixteen”, “Look What God Gave Her”, and “Be a Light” (with Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin, and Keith Urban). All from his four studio albums to date.
Thomas Rhett has been nominated for 4 Grammys, has won 3 ACM Awards (including Record of the Year for “Die a Happy Man”, which also won Song of the Year at the CMA Awards). In 2020, Rhett tied with Carrie Underwood for ACM’s coveted “Entertainer of the Year” award.
His most recent album release is 2019’s “Center Point Road”. His latest single is “What’s Your Country Song”.
