On the twenty-second day of highlighting lesser known Christmas songs (or versions of classics I gravitate to each year), today’s song is “White Christmas” by One Republic. The 2018 tune was originally recorded for and featured in a Jeep commercial. Formed in 2002 in Colorado, the band first became successful via MySpace (if you remember that), and released their debut album, “Dreaming Out Loud” in 2007.
The band’s breakthrough in the US came in 2013 with the release of their third album “Native”, which featured the hit single “Counting Stars”. Past collaborators include Timbaland, Peter Gabriel, Kygo, Sara Bareilles, Alesso, Logic, and Galantis.
The band has received multiple Grammy, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and World Music Award nominations. Lead singer Ryan Tedder has won three Grammys in songwriting credits for Adele and Taylor Swift.
One Republic’s latest album releases include 2020’s “Clouds (Music from the Disney+ Original Movie)” and 2016’s “Oh My My”. There latest single is 2020’s “Wild Life”.
