Something About Christmas Time

On the nineteenth day of highlighting lesser known Christmas songs (or versions of classics I gravitate to each year), my choice of song is “Christmas Time” by Canadian singer/songwriter Bryan Adams. The song was often listed as a bonus track on Bryan’s 1983 “Cuts Like a Knife” album, although it wasn’t actually recorded until two years later. It has since appeared on a number of Christmas compilation albums, and in 2019, was a featured track on his “Christmas” EP.

Bryan Adams

Joining his first band while in his teens, Adams released his self-titled debut album at age 20. His worldwide breakthrough came in 1983 with the release of “Cuts Like A Knife”. His singles are well known and still popular today…among them are “Straight From the Heart”, “Cuts Like a Knife”, “Run To You”, “Summer of ’69”, “Heaven”, “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You”, “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?”, and “Can’t Stop This Ting We Started”.

Bryan Adams is currently ranked 38th on Billboard’s list of top Hot 100 artists. He’s won 20 Juno Awards (from nearly 60 nominations), 1 Grammy (from 15 nominations), and also received 3 Academy Award nominations. He has sold more than 75 million records throughout his career and is also an avid photographer and philanthropist.

“Shine a Light” is Adams’ most recent album (released in 2019).

If you’d like to listen to the playlist as it’s created this month, preview the tracks and then log into Spotify to listen!
