THE HOLIDAY

In this wild world of fake news and even faker friends, wouldn’t it be a riot to have an annual “Tell the Whole Truth Day”? Picture it: everyone reports only the unvarnished truth for a day, maybe just before the big elections, where politicians might actually have to admit they like pineapple on pizza! Who knew honesty could be so entertaining?

HOW WOULD IT WORK?

Keep it simple, my friends! That’s my motto, and I’m sticking to it. Now, if something’s thrown at you that ends in a question mark—whether it’s spoken or written—get ready to serve up the unfiltered truth, no gray areas allowed! Just think of it as a game of truth or dare, except there’s no dares and you’re just stuck with the truth part. Good luck with that!

THE CAVEAT

Something tells me that there are some folks out there who would rather binge-watch their favorite series than engage in holiday festivities. That’s where International Truth Day swoops in, closing those sneaky loopholes like a superhero stopping the bad guys! Just imagine it—a day when avoiding chit-chat is as impossible as Jim Carrey’s Fletcher Reade not being able to tell a lie for 24 hours in “Liar, Liar”. He thought he had it hard, but at least he didn’t have to dodge Aunt Mildred’s infamous fruitcake!

On my holiday, individuals would go about their lives as if it were an ordinary day of the year, leading to a profound uncertainty regarding the distinction between truth and falsehood. It appears that when one communicates, regardless of whether the statement is truthful or deceptive, the recipient perceives only the truth.

THE DAY AFTER

Naturally, following International Truth Day, we just had to spice things up with yet another holiday: International Forgiveness Day—because let’s be honest, we all need a day dedicated to pretending we didn’t hear what our friends just said!
