Having devoted the majority of my years living in Iowa, I’ve come to understand that the four seasons in this place possess a unique character of their own. Attempting to sport the same attire throughout the year would be akin to engaging in a high-stakes game of fashion roulette – one moment, you’re trembling as if in the Arctic, and the next, you’re drenched in sweat as if in the Sahara. It’s a rollercoaster ride!

Additionally, let’s not forget the importance of keeping other people in mind when choosing the clothes we wear. I mean, you wouldn’t want to show up to a Zoom meeting with a client wearing a tank top, unless you’re trying to convince them you’re on a tropical vacation or auditioning for a bodybuilding competition. On the other hand, donning a suit and tie at the beach might just convince everyone you’ve mistaken the shoreline for a corporate boardroom. Either that or you’re a butler or a lost penguin.

For today’s prompt question, I will disregard the impact of temperature and social implications on the decision and focus solely on personal comfort.

As I kick back on my couch composing this blog post, I’m watching episode 3 of Apple TV’s series “Hijack”, a high-octane suspense thriller starring Idris Elba (well cast) and deals with a hijacking of a 7-hour flight from Dubai to London, with the series unfolding in real-time over seven one-hour episodes. What makes the experience of watching this series even more enjoyable is that I’m wearing what I consider to be my favorite outfit. Comfortable soft shorts with a t-shirt made mostly of cotton.

THE SHORTS

There are so many different kinds of shorts available in the market today for guys. From casual and comfortable cotton shorts to stylish and versatile chino shorts, the options are endless. Athletic shorts designed for sports and outdoor activities provide functionality and flexibility, while denim shorts offer a rugged and timeless appeal. With varying lengths, fits, and designs, guys can easily find the perfect pair of shorts to suit their personal style and activities. Whether it’s for a laid-back weekend, an active day outdoors, or a casual day at the beach, or an endless day after day forced option, there’s a pair of shorts to match every occasion and preference.

For me personally, I like a super soft pair without a belt that fall just a few inches above my knee. Not too light, not too heavy, not too tight and not falling off my hips.

THE TEE

All t-shirts are definitely not created equal. I’ve come across tees with fantastic graphic designs, but the fabric is either too heavy, the length becomes too short after a cycle in the dryer, the arm fit is awkward, or the neckline is either too tight or too loose.

However, when I find that perfect shirt, I could wear it every single day… if only it stayed clean and magically repaired itself whenever there were holes or loose stitching.

THE ACCESSORIES

What’s a good-looking outfit without a few extras to make it stand out and/or make your daily life easier? Accessories like a statement necklace, a stylish watch, or a classic leather belt can elevate your look and add a personal touch. These carefully chosen extras not only enhance your outfit but also reflect your individual style and personality, making a super long-lasting impression.

For me, I’d go simply with a stylish fitness tracking watch, an optional belt (although I don’t really like it unless I’m going out), and deep enough pockets to not have my phone slip out when I sit down.
