As human beings, life in the grand scheme of things is little more than a blink of an eye. Canadian author Robin Sharma (“The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari”) said something I find inspirational and simply a great way to start every day (and every year) of my life.
Don’t live the same year 75 times and call it a life.
Robin Sharma
Those words speak to me of adventure, leaving nothing on the table to be explored, pursuing happiness, searching and living new experiences, and perhaps simply making a difference in the world in the finite time you have to live your life.
With only so many hours in a day, what do I wish I could do more of? Many things, but chief among them would be this list:
EXTEND TIME

Although there are but 24 hours in a day and no amount of magic could make my daily life longer, I would still wish for more time. Daylight Savings time aside (ugh, still not over the time change yet), I often feel like I just getting into the zone or the rhythm of what I’m working to get done and then BAM! – it’s time for dinner or I find the sun is setting.
WALK / EXERCISE

Just seven short years ago, you would find me taking a walk every now and then as if it had to be part of an “official” event – hiking at a park on vacation or strolling around the perimeter of my workplace parking lot (it’s pretty big) over lunch.
Then a Pembroke Welsh Corgi (and my Fitbit) came along, and my life was transformed into that of a regular walker, whether I wanted to or not! Fortunately, I find walking both enjoyable and a nice break from a busy day and coupled with my gym workouts a few times a week, I hope to surpass the 75 years of life mentioned earlier.
WRITE

As much as I love putting together the blog each day, limited hours due to my “real” job makes my writing opportunities mostly confined to evenings while watching television or (haha) walking the dog.
My episodic novel, “Relentless” is also something that suffers due to a simple lack of time. I want the story to be exciting and worth your time to read, so I tend to start, stop, and then restart again. More time to write would be a great thing to have as it allows me time to stop the craziness of the day-to-day and look inward for stories and feelings that I hope resonate with you, my faithful readers.
ENJOY MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Who wouldn’t wish for more time with your loved ones? Enough said.
SLEEP

There are evenings when I get back from a gym workout, and I’m watching a program on TV, and realize I missed a chunk of it because I nodded off from sheer exhaustion. My father-in-law tends to marvel at how I can fall asleep anywhere (sitting on the floor leaning against the wall for instance), but sometimes when morning comes, it would be kind of nice to have just a few more hours before the world begins to spin for the day.
I’m certain that if I spent more time (that I of course don’t have), I could think of a hundred different things I’d love to have more of in my day, but for today, I’m going to leave it at that.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN
What do you need more of in your own day? Take a moment to share your thoughts with a comment!
In the meantime, I leave you with wise words from Jon Foreman of Switchfoot:
Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone’s here
Everyone’s here
Everybody’s watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
What happens next?I dare you to move.
Jonathan Foreman
