Why do songs get stuck in your head?
A few months ago, I watched an interesting documentary called My Old School. In it, a mysterious student enrolls in a Scottish secondary school, makes a bunch of friends, and has a few adventures. I won’t spoil it, but it later turns out this student is not who he seems, and some stunning revelations come forward.
It’s a good movie, very well done, and I recommend checking it out if you are into quirky, true-life, documentary-type films. But it is not the point of this article.
See, at the end of the movie, a version of a Steely Dan song also called “My Old School” plays over the closing credits. For weeks afterward, that song was stuck in my head every waking moment of every single day. No matter what I did, it would not go away.

WHAT’S THE ONE LUXURY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
Air conditioning. Living in the Midwest, the temperature can push 100 degrees for a number of days in the summer with humidity that is definitely not a “dry” heat. There’s nothing better than the cool consistency of central air on those days. Perhaps watermelon, popsicles and the pool?
