Once upon a time, before the advent of the internet, when movie magic happened onscreen (whether it be the muslin stocking used to simulate the tornado in “The Wizard of Oz” or the rear projection of landscape behind Tippi Hedren’s drive to Bodega Bay in Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”), you were left simply to wonder how it was done to look “so real”.
Today’s CGI leaves viewers questioning what is and isn’t real on the screen as the technology is so perfectly flawless when done well. Now as I arrive home from seeing a movie, I pull out my phone to navigate to Internet Movie Database (IMDB) to investigate and learn more about the film and the interesting facts surrounding its creation.
