NEW – Classic Read – Book Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – The Side Table (home.blog)
After several weeks of my teen daughter pleading with me to read this new book about a kid wizard (everyone’s reading it!!!!), and my reminding her that I have my own book that I was reading, I slipped into the car one morning to drop her off at school and head to work.
She casually slipped the novel from her book bag, and began to read it to me. After several days of this, I finally surrendered and said I’d read it myself if she’d stop reading it to me every day. To be honest, I was actually getting interested in the plot of the story (but I wouldn’t tell her that for years).
Every now and then, a writer is able to write a story (or a series in this case) that literally puts your imagination into the world they’ve created. J.K. Rowling is just such a writer.
If you have young teens, I’d highly recommend this creative series of stories. If you pick it up yourself and begin to read, I promise I won’t say a word to a living muggle.
