On the sixteenth day of highlighting lesser known Christmas songs (or versions of classics I gravitate to each year), it was suggested I check out “His Favorite Christmas Story” by Capital Lights. The song is a cut from the 2008 Tooth & Nail label compilation “X Christmas”. After one listen, I definitely liked the pace and the “story” within the song. Vocals remind me a lot of another group I’ve always liked…Hawk Nelson, who happen to be on the same label at the time. The most interesting thing I discovered during my research is that CL began their career as a SCREAMO band..yeah, look it up.
Capital Lights formed in 2002 as afterEIGHT (the SCREAMO period), but swapped monikers to CL and musical styles in 2008 after signing with Tooth & Nail Records. They’ve release five albums/EPs and nine singles, going on an indefinite hiatus as a group in 2012.
Capital Lights’ most recent release is “Rhythm ‘N’ Moves” from 2012.
