10 Ideas I Almost Used for Today’s Post (But Didn’t)

Because sometimes the best part of creating is the chaos before the clarity.

There’s a moment every morning—right between the first spark of ambition and the second sip of caffeine—when anything could become today’s post. A memory. A headline. A half‑baked idea scribbled in the Notes app at 1:14 AM. A story I swear I’ll tell someday.

And then there are the ideas that almost made it.
The ones that hovered on the edge of “maybe,” “not today,” and “this could be brilliant or terrible.”

So today, I’m giving them their moment.

Here are ten ideas I almost used for today’s post… but didn’t.

🎵 1. The One About the Song I’ve Played 47 Times This Week

It was going to be a deep dive into obsession, repetition, and why certain melodies feel like home.

But then I realized I’d have to admit the actual number of plays.

💬 2. A List of Things I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self

Heartfelt. Vulnerable. Potentially tear‑inducing.
But it felt like a “Thursday energy” post, not a “today energy” post.

🛒 3. Ten Things I Learned From Watching People at the Grocery Store

Yes, I take notes.
No, I’m not sorry.
But the draft started turning into a sociology paper.

🌤️ 4. A Love Letter to the First Warm Day After a Long Winter

It was poetic. It was dramatic. It was basically a monologue from a movie where the main character finally sees the sun. (Think “Shawshank Redemption”)
But the weather didn’t cooperate.

🙈 5. Ten Things I’m Currently Avoiding

This one got too real too fast.

🥨 6. A Ranking of My Favorite Snacks, Based on Vibes Alone

It was fun until I realized I had accidentally written a manifesto about pretzels. Plus, I swear I’ve already done that…a number of times.

✨ 7. Ten Tiny Joys I Noticed This Week

Wholesome. Gentle. A warm blanket of a post.
But I want to save it for a day when the world feels a little heavier and needs a lift. Plus, it’s only Tuesday.

😏 8. A Post About the Best Advice I’ve Ever Ignored

This one is still simmering.
It might show up later—probably on a day when I’m feeling mischievous.

🎈 9. Ten Things I Thought Would Matter by Now (But Don’t)

A surprisingly freeing list.
But it deserves more space than a quick daily post.

🔁 10. A Post About the Post I Was Going to Write

Meta. Too meta.
Even for me.

And so… this post won.

A tribute to the almost‑posts.
The drafts that didn’t make the cut.
The ideas that weren’t quite right for today—but still deserved a spotlight.

Because creativity isn’t just the final product.
It’s the wandering.
The circling.
The “hmm… maybe not.”
The quiet little sparks that light the way to the one idea that finally sticks.
