Waypoints: 30 Days of Gratitude
This month, Moteventure turns its compass toward the quiet power of thankfulness. Waypoints: 30 Days of Gratitude is a daily storytelling journey through resilience, grace, and the moments that anchor us. Each post will be a marker — a pause along the path — where gratitude reveals itself in unexpected ways. From small gestures to life-altering kindness, these stories invite reflection, connection, and a deeper appreciation for the light we find (and share) along the way.
Every path has its waypoints. If gratitude lit yours, leave a note beneath this post.
The Coat on the Bench
He used to wear tailored suits. Italian leather shoes. His name was on the corner office door of a financial firm in London’s Canary Wharf. People called him “sir.” He flew first class. He drank champagne on rooftops.
Then came the crash.
Not the market — his marriage. His health. His sense of purpose. One by one, the pillars fell. He made mistakes. Burned bridges. And when the firm let him go, he didn’t fight it. He packed a box, walked out, and never went back.

Six months later, he was sleeping on a bench near St. Paul’s Cathedral. Same city. Different world.
He didn’t beg. He didn’t speak. He just sat — coat pulled tight, eyes hollow, watching the suits rush past.
One morning, a woman in a red scarf sat beside him. She didn’t ask questions. She just handed him a paper cup of coffee and a folded coat.
“I used to sit here too,” she said. “Different bench. Same feeling.”
He looked at her — really looked. She wasn’t pitying him. She was remembering.

Featuring 4 new tracks: Emberwake, Flat Tire, What If You’re Wrong, and the heartwarming holiday single Home For Christmas.
“I don’t know your story,” she added. “But I know what it’s like to lose everything and still be alive. That means something.”
He didn’t cry. Not then. But he wore the coat. He drank the coffee. And the next day, he sat up straighter.

Sometimes kindness doesn’t fix everything. But it reminds you you’re still human. Still seen. Still worthy of warmth.
And sometimes, the richest thing you can give… is a coat on a bench.
