Welcome back to another installment of our “Moteventurous Cookbook” series! With fall upon us, I’m excited to share a recipe that captures the warmth and coziness of the season: Awe-inspiring Apple Crisp. This dessert features tender, spiced apples topped with a crunchy, buttery layer, providing a great balance of textures and flavors. Perfect for sharing with family and friends, this dish will fill your home with inviting aromas and bring smiles to faces. Whether you’re an experienced baker or just starting out, this easy recipe will have you enjoying a comforting treat in no time.

As mentioned in previous posts, I can’t help but share my favorite features of Moteventure, especially when the hunger pangs strike. My “Moteventure Cookbook” continues to be a great collection of recipes that I’ve highlighted throughout the blog. Though I’m not claiming to be a master chef—after all, I once had a tough time with Macaroni & Cheese from a box—I find myself drawn to recipes that are not only easy to whip up but also deliver an incredible flavor experience.

AWE-INSPIRING APPLE CRISP

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups canned or fresh apples (sliced & peeled)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • Dash of lemon
  • Ground cinnamon (be generous)
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Combine in large bowl apples, sugar, lemon and cinnamon, mixing well.
  2. Set aside the apple mixture as you make the topping.
  3. In a separate medium-sized bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, salt & butter, mixing ingredients very loosely.
  4. In bottom of an 8×8 baking dish, layer in apple mixture, sprinkling a bit of sugar over the mixture.
  5. Press the topping mix over the apples and press down lightly.
  6. Bake at 350° for 30-45 minutes, checking it in the last 15 minutes to assure a crispy, crunchy top layer.
  7. Cool down for a bit and then slice and serve with vanilla ice cream.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 45 minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Yields: 9 square servings
