🔥 Ignite the Fire isn’t just my upcoming album—it’s a bit of a time capsule. Each track sparks a moment, a memory, a question I often can’t shake. As I built this project, I found myself chasing the tension between nostalgia and urgency, between quiet reflection and bold declaration. This post is a behind-the-scenes journey through that process: the stories, sonic choices, and emotional pivots that shaped every song. If you’ve ever wondered what fuels the fire behind the music, here’s where the embers begin.
Thematically, a sizzling fire ignites the very essence of this album. Every track is ablaze with imagery of sparks, flames, and the intoxicating heat of rising temperatures—each line a fervent homage to the mercurial nature of passion that dances through nearly every song I’ve penned.
Most of us yearn for an album to embrace a consistent genre, weaving a tapestry of cohesion throughout every track. However, this album boldly strides through a multitude of musical styles that have fueled my passion over the years—ranging from heartfelt country to electrifying rock, infectious pop, and uplifting dance music. It’s all intricately woven into this single 11-track masterpiece encompassing both yesterday and today. While it may not adhere to the conventional norm, it wholeheartedly embodies who I am!
So, with that, let’s jump into it:

This opening track is a title I imagined while in college, and wrote most of the lyrics to in the midst of falling in love with my wife when we’d first met. Talk about inspiration!
Later, when repurposing the song for this album, I reworked some of the lyrics and then leaned into my love of rock band Skillet to create the canvas for the music.

This was the track that initiated me creating an album in the first place. I was needing a snippet of sound to use on my reaction videos where I, as “barely” a baby boomer, react to songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart today. In the midst of writing the lyrics, it morphed into a full song.

This tune was originally written in the late eighties (along with several others that appear here), when I was feeling what I thought was the weight of the world and looking for someone to blame other than myself. The chorus and the beginning of the verses had stayed in my mind all these years, so I wrote them down and fleshed them out with a bit of today’s sensibility and hopefully some wisdom I’ve gained through the last few decades.

Ah, “Paranoid”. Shortly after Michael Jackson released what would be his juggernaut album, “Thriller”, I decided to try my own hand at a song inspired by his famous title track. My composition’s original incarnation was very poppy and silly sounding, to a point where my sister-in-law would routinely blurt the chorus out at odd times to embarrass the hell out of me. I recently reworded the lyrics and added a punk/new wave element to it to no longer feel foolish when I sing that epic and terrifying chorus!

I love powerful words. With the word “relentless”, I’ve created a corporate game (based upon the NCAA tournament), a novel (to get started reading it, click here), and now – a love song. Inspired by Imagine Dragons, I put this song together in 2025 as a demonstration of my feelings for my wife both when we first met as well as now, 30+ years down the road. That echo in the end is just too cool!

Written on the morning of the anniversary of my Dad’s death earlier this year as a reflection on how although someone’s missing from your life, there are subtle reminders everyday to signal to you that you’re never alone. As cliche as it may seem, a part of him will always live in my heart.

Having grown up in high school listening to groups like Chic, SOS Band, and the Queen of Disco herself (Donna Summer), I couldn’t help but name drop the Boston icon in this club thumper I had written along with “Pressure Point” and “Paranoid” in the late eighties. To me, with its modern dance sound and a vocal that is reminiscent of Rhianna, this could top Billboard’s Dance Chart today!

This title was courtesy of a poem my wife had written many years ago. I remember taking the title and adding a bit of a verse to it (that she wasn’t fond of at the time), and creating an unfinished song that lingered in my head all these years. I fleshed out the lyrics further in 2025 based upon what I remembered and produced this to be a bit of a homage to Evanescence.

Love songs. I seem to like them a lot. “Falling For You” was written around the same time as “Everybody’s Restless” way back when. Lyrics were updated in 2025 and the feel of the song is quite different from the tight pop-rock tempo I originally imagined. With today’s Tik-Tok world, I think it sounds just as it was supposed to. I hope you enjoy it!

One of the last songs I wrote back in college that was going to be on an album I called “Ascertain Justice” (I loved those words, even if I didn’t fully get what they meant at the time!). As you can hear, I left the ascertain justice reference in the finished version of the 2025 song, which I like to think was inspired by the followers of classic rock on my Moteventure Reactions channel.

As is the case in most relationships, most days are a blessing and sometimes (particularly if you’re a husband or bf for some reason), you do some boneheaded thing that leaves your better half disappointed in you and not afraid to say it. I wrote this in a fictional way to hopefully demonstrate that every couple have ups and downs and that it’s the ability to humble yourself and remind each other of why you make each other better that matters in this life.

As the anticipation hopefully builds, I invite you to listen to my latest songs on Spotify, Amazon Music, and Audiomack as they become available! Don’t forget to share your favorites, use them in your social media posts, and add them to your playlists to keep the music flowing. Your support helps reach more listeners and keep creating the tunes you love—let’s spread the joy of music together!
