Having had a number of years to build up my sweet tooth, I’ve naturally been able to taste a lot of different chocolate over time.
Dreaming up a chocolate bar is truly difficult to do when it already exists in the form of Mars’ Snickers bar.
SNICKERS

Snickers, produced by Mars, Inc., is one of the world’s most popular chocolate bars. First introduced in 1930, it features a delicious combination of nougat, caramel, and peanuts, all covered in milk chocolate. The bar was named after a favorite horse owned by the Mars family. Over the decades, Snickers has remained a snack-time staple, known for its rich taste and satisfying texture. Its iconic tagline, “You’re not you when you’re hungry,” has cemented its reputation as the go-to treat for hunger relief. The brand has expanded with variations like Snickers Almond, Snickers Peanut Butter, and Snickers Ice Cream Bars, ensuring that chocolate lovers always have new ways to indulge.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Narrowing chocolate down to one candy bar is a bit difficult. Who doesn’t love Baby Ruth, Hershey’s (with almonds for me), Lindt, Godiva, and Giardelli? Regardless, I will highlight one that I have loved in the past (while it lasted) and another that is still too hard to resist…my honorable mentions.
THE NOSTALGIC MARATHON BAR

Flashing back to my childhood, I’d have to say I had a soft spot for Marathon bars.
The Marathon Bar was a beloved chocolate treat introduced by Mars in 1973. It was eight inches long and featured a braided caramel center covered in milk chocolate. The bar was marketed as “the candy bar you can’t eat quickly,” with commercials featuring a cowboy character named Marathon John. Its bright red wrapper even had a ruler printed on it to emphasize its length.
Despite its popularity, the Marathon Bar was discontinued in 1981—possibly due to its similarity to other Mars products. However, a similar candy called Curly Wurly, made by Cadbury, remains available today and is often considered its spiritual successor.
THE ETERNALLY CLASSIC PEANUT M&M’S

Peanut M&M’S made their debut in 1954, expanding the M&M’S lineup beyond the original milk chocolate variety. The idea behind M&M’S originated in 1941, when Forrest Mars Sr. saw soldiers eating candy-coated chocolate during the Spanish Civil War. Inspired by this, he developed M&M’S with a hard sugar shell to prevent melting, making them ideal for military rations.
The name M&M’S comes from the partnership between Mars and Murrie, the son of Hershey Chocolate’s president, who helped secure a steady chocolate supply during wartime. Over the decades, M&M’S became a cultural icon, even traveling to space aboard the Columbia shuttle in 1981

CONCLUSION
Those selections would complete my perfect triad of chocolate if I were to name one. Sure, I’m sure there are European chocolates to die for, but I’m just a simple man with simple tastes. My only request? Can I have them frozen?
Finally, I’m curious to know what your own favorites are! With so many delightful options out there, each of us has a personal go-to treat that brings back sweet memories.
