Many years ago, I discovered a special part of myself when I first discovered a love of music and became a fan of a variety of recording artists, some legendary and some, simply passing fads.

During my middle school years (back then we called it junior high), my class hosted a magazine drive in Mr. Dolphin’s algebra class, wherein each student could basically “shop” through a catalogue of items that were offered to those who were able to sell sufficient subscriptions to family, friends, and neighbors to select that particular item.

MAGAZINE DRIVE LOSER PRIZE

There, on the first few pages of the booklet was my coveted item, a simple alarm clock with an AM/FM radio built in. Funny, how it seems a world away from my smart phone and the Spotify app I have at my fingertips 24/7 in my life today.

Regardless, my teenage mind locked onto doing everything I could to reach the level to win that clock, and after enlisting every connection I had through my parents and friends, I managed to sell enough subscriptions to choose my cherished prize.

When finally it arrived, I brought it home with great anticipation, placing it onto my nightstand next to my bed, tuned it into the our local radio station, and leaned back onto my pillow with my hands clasped behind my head, closed my eyes, and just listened.

What was that first song I heard? It was definitely one of those passing fads I mentioned earlier.

Who would have guessed that Pat Boone’s daughter would take a tune originally written for a forgettable movie (featuring Didi Conn from “Grease”) to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1977 for 10 consecutive weeks?

Anyway, although I never quite got into that sappy ballad at the time, there were many tunes after that played on that little clock radio for the next few years that fueled my passion and made me a fan.

Which leads me to today’s post. If you’ve subscribed or just visited now and again here at Moteventure, you may note that I tend to gravitate on a regular basis to stories and features that put music in the spotlight. Today’s post is no different.

The feature “Our Ten” originally began on the site as a way to share some of my favorite music by iconic artists who have shaped my taste in pop tunes over the decades. Whether it’s Elvis, The Beatles, Prince or Madonna, I’ve published posts that either list or rank my favorite 10 songs by each artist.

Now, in order to reach a larger audience, I’ve taken those posts and created individual YouTube videos for each, adding a new artist on a weekly basis, give or take.

One thing I want to apologize in advance on is the audio, as I’ve experimented with AI voices, my own, and different microphone options too, which I’ve finally resolved now with the Fleetwood Mac list!

With that being said, I invite you to check out the ones created so far and comment and/or subscribe both on the blog as well as the YouTube Channel.

As we continue to explore the incredible world of music, I want to hear from you! Are there specific artists you’d like to see featured in our Top 10 lists? Your input is invaluable, and I would love to showcase the icons that resonate with you.

Don’t forget to subscribe to Moteventure for more engaging content and be sure to check out the Moteventure Reactions YouTube channel for our latest videos. Together, let’s celebrate the music that connects us all!
