With election day finally upon us, many have already voted early or completed a mail-in ballot. For those going to the polls today, I thought I’d break one of my cardinal rules here at Moteventure and discuss politics. First, I encourage you to vote today. It’s your civic duty and your treasured right as a citizen of the United States of America.
Secondly, with so much rhetoric from both candidates, I thought I’d put together a brief list of pros and cons of where each of them stand.
DONALD J. TRUMP

Pros:
Economics – His policies, including tax cuts and deregulation, boosted our economy and reduced unemployment significantly.
Judicial Appointments – He appointed three Supreme Court justices and numerous federal judges as well, shaping the judiciary for years to come.
Foreign Policy – His “America First” approach strengthened the U.S.’s position globally and led to historic peace agreements in the Middle East.
The Border & Immigration – His tough stance on immigration contributed to more effective national security and economic stability. Countries need borders and laws that are upheld.
Business Expertise – His background as a businessman is an asset to managing the country’s economy and negotiating trade deals.
Regulatory Rollbacks – Rolling back the red tape of regulations helped businesses (both big and small) thrive and reduced government overreach.
Military Funding – Increasing funding to the military strengthened our national defense.
Trade Deals – Renegotiating trade deals was a benefit to American workers and products.
Tax Reform – Reforming the tax code resulted in tax relief for both individuals and businesses.
Energy Independence – His stance on increasing domestic energy production resulted in steps to energy independence and economic growth.
Cons:
Rhetoric – His outspokenness exacerbated a division in the country as opposed to uniting us.
Impeachment – He is the only President to be impeached twice, however politically motivated the impeachments were.
Legal Issues – President Trump faced criminal as well as civil charges, albeit again from a politically motivated source.
Environmental Policies – His rollback of policy has been a point of contention.
Foreign Policy – Critics say his handling of foreign relations has strained relations with key allies.
Economic Inequality – Some claim his economic policies have benefited only the wealthy.
Character – Some (former) colleagues complain of his personal conduct and integrity.
Healthcare – His desire to repeal Obamacare has met with resistance.
Immigration – His tough immigration stance has rubbed the left the wrong way.
KAMALA HARRIS

Pros:
Her Candidacy – As a female and the first South Asian candidate, her candidacy marks a significant point in American history.
Experience – Harris has served as both a U.S. Senator and Attorney General of the state of California.
Women’s Rights – As a strong advocate for women’s rights, she pushes forward for gender equality and reproductive rights.
Criminal Justice Reform – She has been a vocal proponent of justice reform, particularly from a systemic perspective.
Healthcare – She proposes to expand access to healthcare and is a big fan of Obamacare.
Climate Change – Support policies reducing carbon emissions and the use of renewable energy.
Economics – She advocates for policies that support the middle class and addresses social inequality.
Education – Harris supports increasing funding for public education and making higher education more accessible and affordable.
Foreign Policy – She has had some insight into national security and foreign policy issues as a U.S. Senator.
Cons:
Criminal Justice Record – Her record as a prosecutor and Attorney General of California includes controversial decisions that conflict with her current stance on criminal justice reform.
Healthcare Stance: Her position on healthcare has been inconsistent, particularly regarding Medicare for All.
Experience: She lacks the extensive experience needed for the highest offices, compared to other candidates.
Policy Shifts: There are concerns about her shifting positions on key issues, which some see as politically motivated rather than principled.
Handling of Staff: Reports have surfaced about her management style and high turnover rates among her staff.
Debate Performance: Her performance in the Democratic primary debates was not strong enough to inspire confidence
Public Perception: Polls have shown mixed public perception, with some voters questioning her authenticity.
Legislative Achievements: Harris’ legislative record in the Senate lacks significant accomplishments.
Campaign Strategy: With Biden dropping out of the race, and the powers that be selecting Harris as the replacement, Harris was not selected by the people to run on the Democratic ticket for President.
GO AND VOTE!

In conclusion, I won’t offer my personal stance, but I do ask just one question.
Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?
