Funny you should ask that! We had planned to visit family a few hours away this weekend, but then due to an unexpected illness, our plans have changed and we’re home for the weekend. That allows for time to do some things I’ve been putting off doing for far too long.
You must be curious what I have avoided for (in some cases) years? Today, I’m doing a short list of the things I will dedicate myself to getting done this forthcoming weekend, in no specific order!

CEILING FAN CHAIN
Installing a ceiling fan is incredibly straightforward these days. I remember it only taking me an hour several years ago. However, after I installed it, the chain controlling the light somehow got twisted inside the unit, and to fix it, I need to disassemble the entire thing down to the paddles. While I’ve postponed tackling this issue for years by unscrewing the lightbulbs in the summer and relying on bedside lamps, it’s high time I take action and resolve this once and for all!

OUTLET REPLACEMENTS
This year, I’ve already upgraded several strategic outlets in the house to include USB and USB-C charging, and now it’s time to tackle a few standard outlets that clearly need replacing. Some of them have loose fittings that fail to connect or fall out, which is simply unacceptable. I’m ready to make these upgrades!

OUTDOOR DRAMA LIGHT
My list seems to feature lighting and accessories so far, and this entry is no exception. We’ve installed a remarkable light in our front yard that brilliantly illuminates the facade of our house, creating an impressive effect for those driving or walking by. The challenge? This light is so recessed that securing it properly is a bit tricky, and it can be tough to remove when necessary. However, I’m confident a solution will present itself, and I’m ready to tackle it.

TIGHTENING DECK POSTS
Ten to twelve years ago, we upgraded our tired, decrepit deck to a spacious, functional one that truly accommodates our family. However, the only challenge we face is that the nuts securing the bolts for the large posts tend to loosen during the summer months. If someone were to slip, they might tumble through it like in those classic westerns where a character gets shot and dramatically falls from a balcony above the saloon! While accessing the area for tightening can be tricky—especially for those with larger hands—it’s a task that absolutely needs to be done.

BRIGHTEN UP THE FRONT DOOR
We have a front door that features a simulated wood grain on the inside, while the outside is painted a solid cream color to create contrast with the taupe hue of our house itself. When we close the door, our foyer becomes quite dark, which is why I’ve wanted to paint the indoor side of the door to brighten up the space. There’s no rush on this project, but I am excited about the transformation it will bring once completed.

REPLACE THE DRINKING WATER FILTER
When we moved into our home in the year 2000, there was a water filter installed in the basement that involved the inflow of water into the house, through the little water filter installed by our washing machine and then up to the kitchen for filtered drinking water. For some unknown reason, we never used it until I recently replaced our water softener and realized I could avoid using the Brita filtered pitcher all the time if I simply replaced the filter in this little unit. Duh!

COMPLETE THE NEXT CHAPTERS OF “RELENTLESS”
Judging from the direct messages I’ve gotten from readers, the anticipation is growing for the next chapters of my novel, “Relentless”.
Due to my regular workload this time of year, both posts to the blog as well as my ongoing story have been delayed a bit at times out of necessity.
I’m as excited to share the next chapter in Abi’s and Caroline’s adventure as I hope you are to read it!
What Tasks Have You Been Putting Off?
I’d love to hear from you! What tasks or projects have you been postponing in your life? Share your thoughts on why you think you’ve been delaying them. Whether it’s a DIY project, a personal goal, or something else, your insights could inspire others to tackle their own to-do lists!
In the meantime, have a great (and productive) weekend!
