My morning started out with pushing the on/off button on the coffee maker, and then stepping out onto the east-facing deck overlooking my backyard. Scamp, my corgi sidekick lumbers down the stairs and out the open door, carefully maneuvering his cone-clad head (he fights allergies this time of year) through the opening to flop down beside me with a sigh.

I lean back in my chair and close my eyes, the sun’s heat warming my face. This is as close to meditation as I usually get. The silence of the morning with only birds to disturb my peace lets me open my mind to planning for the day and weekend.

A hummingbird flits momentary to the honeysuckle bush off the deck, gathering nectar as its wings beat furiously in the air. I contemplate the day’s yardwork and the feeling of moving into the weekend relatively stress-free after a busy week at work.

For today’s post, I decided I’d do a progressive, “tweet” style structure for the day, meaning I’ll do posts throughout the day highlighting what’s happening and my thoughts about it. Check back to see what I’m up to as we go through the weekend!

In the meantime, be sure to check out my YouTube channel for “Moteventure Reactions” and make a suggestion on a song you think I’ve never heard but would love to see my reaction to!

Saturday, August 10th (10:00 – 11:00 am) – Spent some time drinking coffee, reading the news online, and creating the template for today’s Moteventure blog post. Damn, if my phone doesn’t need charged. I’ll need that for mowing later.

Saturday, August 10th (11:05 am) – Grabbing another cup of coffee and verifying my tickets are valid and on my phone for our movie this afternoon. With the movie in Waukee, where do you recommend we eat lunch? Leave a comment and your recommendations. Be back in a bit!

RANDOM RECOMMENDATIONS: My coffee this morning was Scooter’s Medium Roast and I do love Honeycrisp apples!

Saturday, August 10th (12:45 pm) – just finished mowing the front yard! Realized I’m getting hungry, so I mixed up some Oikos Triple Zero vanilla yogurt with blueberries, raspberry granola, almonds, and a small banana. Feeling better already!

Saturday, August 10th (1:30 pm) – Taking a break after picking up fallen apples in the backyard.

Saturday, August 10th (2:15 pm) – Yard is mowed. Jumping into the shower to get ready for a 3:30 movie!

Saturday, August 10th – (7:00 pm) – So we saw our movie.

Saturday, August 10th – (7:10) – Here’s my mini review. I felt it was about a half hour too long, and drug a bit at the beginning with plot development imho. I liked the subtle homage moments to the original film, “Twister”, but missed the opportunity to have Helen Hunt make a cameo appearance (or Aunt Meg), but loved the final 15 minutes. It was entertaining and featured great music throughout the film. Overall, I’d call it a success.

We grabbed a thin pizza from Godfather’s on our way home and are relaxing in for the night after getting Scamp fed.

Saturday, August 10th (8:30 pm) – Kicking back now with Netflix’s “The Mole”, season two. Good so far.

Saturday, August 10th (10:25 pm) – Watched a bit more tv tonight and I’m going to let you go now have a great weekend!
