Although I’d be the first to say I’m happy with the life I’ve lived, the idea of life in an alternate universe is an intriguing one.
When considering life in an alternate universe, people often envision:
- Divergent Realities: A world with alternate historical events, different societal norms, or unfamiliar technological advancements.
- Parallel Identities: Individuals leading contrasting lives, such as pursuing alternative careers, relationships, or personal passions.
- Supernatural Phenomena: Encounters with mythical creatures, magical powers, or unexplainable occurrences shaping daily existence.
- Ethical Frameworks: Societies governed by distinct moral principles, justice systems, and approaches to interpersonal relationships.
- Exploration of Possibilities: An opportunity to reflect on one’s choices and potential outcomes in a universe diverging from our own.
Living in an alternate universe sparks the imagination, prompting contemplation of the extraordinary and unfamiliar.
HOW WOULD MY LIFE (AND MY WORLD) DIFFER?
In an alternate universe, my father would have survived his heart attack back in 1981, and would be turning 95 this November.

In an alternate universe, I would have perhaps been a meteorologist or possibly own a company that makes trailers for movies or cool motion logos for movie and production companies.
In an alternate universe, my wife would want for nothing, as it should be.

In an alternate universe, we’d take an annual vacation to somewhere exotic and different. Every. Single. Year.

In an alternate universe, my Corgi Scamp would live forever.
In an alternate universe, our political leaders would remember that they work for us, not for themselves.
In an alternate universe, pharmaceutical companies would work towards actual cures vs. therapeutics.

In an alternate universe, I could read minds.

In an alternate universe, we would travel Star Trek style from one place to another at never to no cost. Perhaps you walk into a McDonald’s in Des Moines, and after a short process, you walk out the door of the McDonald’s on the Champs Elysées in Paris.
In an alternate universe, I would be able to fly without the aid of any mechanical assistance.
In an alternate universe, everyone understands every language, so those weird moments where two individuals are speaking a language in your presence that you don’t understand (and secretly worry they’re talking about you) won’t happen.

In an alternate universe, eating healthy food doesn’t cost more than eating unhealthy food.
In an alternate universe, people are genuinely good inside. They don’t harbor evil thoughts, jealousy, envy, aggression, greed, deception, aggression and other destructive traits. They are truly Christ-like and hope for and work for the best in and for others.
In an alternate universe, I could travel to other versions of myself in other alternate universes.

In an alternate universe, celebrities’ opinions, whether actors or athletes – are irrelevant – as they should be.
Seriously, I believe I could continue enumerating the things I can imagine in my own alternate universe, but I believe I will stop here. Sometimes, one must exercise caution when expressing desires. This phenomenon is commonly known as the “Butterfly Effect.” The multitude of small things I yearn for could significantly impact other crucial aspects of my life and the world in which I exist.
What about you? What would be in your alternate universe? Share! Share! Share!
