Those stolen moments that occur without my knowing of their passing have a name in my head. To me, it’s finding myself mentally “in the zone”, the point where I am so into an activity that I’m completely unaware of the time I’ve been spending on the activity itself.
Here’s an “off the top of my head” list of what comes to mind when I think of those activities:
LISTENING TO MUSIC

Whether I’m on a treadmill, taking a long walk, or on a road trip, nothing makes time fly by quite like a good playlist on Spotify. I have quite a few public playlists on Spotify if you search there for “Moteventure”. Enjoy!
YARDWORK

Tedious work always is made more tolerable with the aforementioned playlist, but once I get into the zone with weeding, mowing the lawn, or trimming trees, before I know it, five hours is gone.
READING A BOOK

As an avid reader since childhood, nothing makes time evaporate faster for me than a well-paced and engaging story. Those are the books where I simply can’t put it down and read it wherever I happen to be (particularly with e-books).
BINGE-WATCHING A GOOD SHOW

Right now, I’m into the third episode of the Brian Cranston-led Showtime series “Your Honor”, and it appears to be a show I’m going to breeze through one episode after another. After a ton of that yardwork I mentioned above, I do enjoy just chilling in front of the TV with a great show and just literally doing the “Netflix and Chill” thing.
WORK PROJECTS

Most days with work, I’m flying through email, researching individual issues, creating timelines and preparing for open enrollment for my clients and their benefits. Where I really love working is where I can actually fully concentrate on a project or issue without distractions from email, phone calls, and internal inquiries. When that happens, I make tremendous progress that normally results in a great outcome.
VACATION

Even though vacation tends to be hyper-scheduled, the radical change in location and my regular routine leaves me blissfully unaware of the passage of time. All fun, all sun, all the best of times!
WRITING

Whether I’m writing my novel “Relentless” or simply writing a post for my blog, it’s easy to get drawn in and lose all track of time. Hopefully you are the beneficiary of my time well spent!
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN

Those are but a few things that come to mind when I think about losing myself in something I love. Quality time to relax, regroup, recharge and simply enjoy life.
