Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

When we moved into our first home, I recall being overwhelmed by a number of things.

The idea of spending down our nest egg for our down payment left us feeling exposed and vulnerable financially.

The concept of anything going awry with our new home and feeling ill-equipped to handle those situations with my nonexistent handyman skills was daunting to consider too.

There were also home improvements that needed done right away, including painting the exterior. Did I mention that about two weeks into being homeowners we found out that the city was repaving our street, with a temporary road going right through our front yard?

So mentally and financially, we were feeling tapped out.

Enter my in-laws.

They cleaned the empty house.

They bought a scythe to whack the 4 foot tall weeds in what would end up being our garden.

By the time they left for their own home 2 hours away, our home was coming together.

We went to sleep that night with a sense of accomplishment and a diminished level of stress.

That was 24 years ago.

So much has changed since the early days of home ownership, but I will save that story for another day.

To my in-laws and their can do attitude, I will be forever grateful.

Peace!
