Let’s get our countdown off with a few interesting facts about the month of January:

Did you know that the month of January is named for Janus, the Roman god of gates and doorways?

The heaviest snowfall in the world was recorded in Japan on January 12, 1999, when 647.7 inches of snow fell in one hour.

Henry Ford introduced his first assembly line for automobile manufacturing in January 1914.

As for important events occurring in January, on January 7, 1789, George Washington was elected President of the United States; the first x-rays were taken in the United States on January 12, 1896; gold was first discovered in California on January 24, 1848; and finally, Thomas Edison patented the lightbulb on January 27, 1880.

JANUARY REFLECTION

When the first of each month rolls around, I’m always excited to find out what posts resonated most with my readers. It makes sense that the earlier a post is published, the more opportunity exists for it to amass views and make the top 10. This month, however, the post I wrote on January 30 (Tears of a Clown) managed to make the top 10 with just a day or so to do so.

Additionally, we had two instances of ties in the top 10 this month, one a three-way tie! I’m not certain if the increase in personal stories and recollections are becoming popular organically or if it’s a case of me writing more of them, but about 85% of the top 10 are personal accounts.

There also seems to be an uptick in comments and engagement, which I love to see and hope to see more of!
