WATERMELON

Ah, there’s nothing that screams “nostalgia” louder than chomping down on a juicy watermelon slice! It’s the ultimate childhood time machine, with its sweetness and convenient built-in handle. Move over, corn on the cob – there’s a new fruity icon in town! By the way, do you use salt or sugar on your watermelon? Leave me a comment!

STRAWBERRIES

I vividly recall the entire family convening at my grandmother’s farmhouse during that transitional period between spring and summer, all for the purpose of gathering strawberries from her expansive garden. Seated in a chair at the edge of the garden, my grandmother would instruct us on the berries we had missed, repeatedly. Following a satisfying dinner where we were expected to finish everything on our plates, she would treat us to her delectable homemade ice cream or Twinkie-like cakes, which we would eagerly smother with mashed strawberries and sugar, as if the sweetness could be improved upon! Ah, those were truly wonderful times.

BANANAS

These days, there’s nothing quite like the potassium-packed energy boost of bananas as a pre-workout snack. Pairing them with yogurt, granola, and juicy blueberries is a delightful combination that never fails to bring a smile to my face! The aroma of an overly-ripe banana effortlessly transports me back to the farmhouse where my beloved Grandma resided, surrounded by memories of strawberry picking. Her kitchen perpetually exuded the comforting scents of bananas and cinnamon, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere.

HONEYCRISP APPLES

There was a time after my wife and I first got married when every Christmas, I’d unwrap a gift from her grandmother and find a large box of hand-selected red delicious apples. She knew that red delicious apples were one of my favorite foods back then. Nowadays, my preferences have shifted, but recently, the sweet, crisp crunch of Honeycrisp apples has reignited my love for them. Plus, who wouldn’t want to keep the doctor away?

PEACHES

The sweet and juicy taste of a ripe peach is truly unmatched. The way the succulent flesh bursts with flavor with each bite is an experience like no other. Whether enjoyed fresh on a warm summer day or incorporated into a delicious dessert, the versatility of this fruit is truly impressive. From classic peach cobblers to refreshing peach smoothies, there are countless ways to savor the delightful essence of a perfectly ripe peach. The mere mention of the word “peach” can evoke memories of sunny orchards and carefree moments spent indulging in nature’s sweet bounty. It’s no wonder that for many, peaches hold a special place as a beloved fruit, celebrated for their exquisite taste and undeniable allure.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

If you’re looking to jazz up your Greek yogurt game, throw in some feisty blueberries. Those huge grapes are like the SUV of fruits, always ready for a big bite! Fully ripe cantaloupe is like a sweet symphony for your taste buds – no underwhelming performances here. When it comes to pineapple, just say no to the canned stuff and go all in for the real deal. Pears are like the cool kids at the fruit party – they’re great fresh, but when they’re baked, oh boy, they’re the life of the party! And don’t get me started on kiwis – are they trying to taste like watermelon, strawberries, or both? They’re like the fruit version of a mystery novel, keeping us guessing!
