Let’s get our countdown off with a few interesting facts about the month of February:

Did you know that the month of February is named for the Latin word Februum, which translates to “purification” in English? It’s named for a purification ritual not unlike a spring-cleaning festival and originated during the Roman era.

In the Southern Hemisphere, February is the equivalent of the summer month of August in the Northern Hemisphere.

February is the only month where we can go the entire month without the occurrence of a full moon.

As for important events occurring in February, on February 2, 1653, New Amsterdam (later renamed the city of New York) was incorporated; On February 4, 2004, Mark Zuckerberg creates a social media platform which he called Facebook; and finally, on February 25, 1836, Samuel Colt receives a United States patent for revolver firearm.

FEBRUARY REFLECTION

February has been an interesting month for me as a blogger. In a ploy to see if more personally written stories and posts resonate more with my audience, I made it a point to use the Daily Prompts offered from my platform to populate the month’s content. Shockingly, I nearly doubled the views and more than doubled the visitors checking out the site.

There also seems to be an uptick in comments and reader engagement, which I love to see and hope to see more of!
